Bio:
I grew up 20 minutes south of USC in Inglewood so south LA has always been my home. Throughout my undergraduate time on campus, I worked in the Admission Office and spent time as a host for admitted students. My parents are life-long educators and have always preached and taught about the power that education can bring. Continuing in undergraduate admission and higher education feels like the right path for me and day after day continues to be as I continue to forge my own path within this amazing, rewarding field.
Why USC?
When I took a campus tour during an Explore USC program in high school, I felt that this could be my college, that this could be my home. Many years later and I am still here! USC has become and will always be home for me. There is a comfort and freedom here that I didn’t feel or experience anywhere else. There is no “right” path for any particular student, there is no typical USC student, just YOUR path as a USC student. This diversity in thought, majors, and experiences is laid upon the thickest foundation of school pride and community. We are all so proud to be a part of the Trojan Family while equally being supportive of everyone’s individual pursuit of knowledge.
Admission Advice:
When applying to college, really think about what it is you want to get out of your time as an undergraduate. Think beyond the major, the name and the prestige– do you want a small school or large? A private college or public institution? Research? Conservatory? Study abroad? Athletics? Taking the time to dive in to your own desires can help shed light on the types of schools that you will be attracted to and will thrive in.
One other piece: remember that there is a real person reading your applications. Don’t be afraid to share about yourself. The essay and short answers are a very unique time where we get to hear about you, from you. Don’t tell me what you think I want to know about you, tell me what you want me to know about you.
Movie: tie between The Bourne Series and John Wick
Food: nothing beats a nice, warm bowl of pasta
