Students admitted for spring 2025 will participate in winter orientation beginning in October 2024 and continuing through January 2025.

The Student Experience

Get excited! Welcome Trojans Orientation is your chance to discover all that awaits you at USC. Discover campus resources, prepare for your first semester of classes, and meet your fellow classmates. Chances are, you will forge friendships that will last well beyond your years at USC.

Signing Up for Orientation

USC Welcome Trojans Orientation is a hybrid experience. All students will participate in Academic Advisement and Course Registration online through the Trojan Engagement Center.

In addition, students have the option to meet other students through online or on-campus events. Participation in all these activities will complete your orientation experience.

When you sign up for orientation, you will be asked to select your desired event and date.

Detailed information about your specific orientation event will be included in your reminder emails. Be sure to pay close attention to your USC email before your orientation event!

Fall Admits

Fall orientation events are offered in a hybrid format, both online and on campus. Your reservation will include online Academic Advisement and Course Registration and an On-Campus Meet-and-Greet event during Move-In Day.

Fall admits and their families also have the option to participate in full-day, on-campus events at the USC University Park Campus. These events allow students and parents to experience the USC campus firsthand and meet other members of the Trojan Family. Plan to spend the entire day on campus—please do not make travel plans that require you to leave campus early.

Reservations are required for all guests. Students may add up to two guests to their reservation. Fees may apply and must be paid when confirming your reservation.

Spring Admits

Orientation events for spring admits are hosted in the winter online via the Trojan Engagement Center. You and your family are also invited to attend an on-campus event on Move-In Day in January. Reservations are required.

What’s Included in Welcome Trojans Orientation?

Like the orientation experiences offered at many other universities, Welcome Trojans offers academic advisement and course registration, as well as opportunities to get involved and meet other members of the Trojan Family.

What sets USC Welcome Trojans apart, though, are the special features designed to prepare you not only for your first semester of classes, but for the orientation process itself. These are automatically included as part of your Welcome Trojans reservation.

Trojan Engagement Center

The Trojan Engagement Center is your central hub for all things orientation! Here you will receive weekly updates from the university, and you and your guests will have access to all the materials available, from webinars and on-demand videos to student services department information and a virtual open house.

Plan to visit it frequently as you prepare for your first semester at USC. Keep an eye on your USC email for more information!

Access to the Trojan Engagement Center begins in:

  • May for fall admits.
  • October for spring admits.

Advising and Registration

Pre-Registration Checklist

Before you can participate in online academic advising and course registration, you will need to complete a Pre-Registration Checklist.

Access to the Pre-Registration Checklist begins:

  • Fall admits – May
  • Spring admits – October

Online Academic Advising

All students complete Academic advisement online prior to registering for courses. Instructions for advisement will be included in your orientation reservation.

Online Course Registration

As part of your reservation for orientation, you will select an online Course Registration date and time. Course Registration includes your first semester of courses only. All registration times are listed in Pacific time. Please plan accordingly.

As all students are learning our process, we advise to you to talk to your advisor and remain flexible about course schedules.

While courses are made available so that all students can register for a full course load, this does not guarantee that you will always get your first-choice courses. We recommend planning two or three alternative schedules. Keep in mind that you have until Week 3 of the semester to make changes to your schedule.

Accommodation Requests

Extended time for placement exams: If necessary, you may request extended time for Math and Chemistry placement exams when making your Welcome Trojans reservation. Approved accommodations for Welcome Trojans do not apply to any other exams.

All other accommodation requests during Welcome Trojans: You will have the opportunity to enter any accommodation requests when making your reservation. A representative from the Office of Orientation Programs will email you to discuss your request further.

AI-powered live captions and translations will be available for webinars and on-campus guest presentations.

All other accommodation requests for the academic year must be submitted to the Office of Student Accessibility Services.
