Bio:
I am a proud son of immigrants and a first-generation college student from Downtown Los Angeles. Having grown up in the inner city, I wanted a change of scenery and traveled 2,671 miles to Bowdoin College in Maine, where I experienced the mythical “winter” and a breath of fresh air in the great outdoors. I also studied abroad in Prague, Czech Republic, and traveled across Europe. Blessed with these opportunities, I developed a greater appreciation for the college experience, which has led me here to the undergraduate admission office at USC.
Why USC?
If sunny Los Angeles is not enough of a reason, USC is a well-funded, well-resourced research university with a strong alumni network. If you know what you are looking for in college, USC will be able to provide it, whether it be an undergrad research opportunity, club, internship, support network, or someone else with a unique, shared interest. If you don’t know what you are looking for, don’t fret! Students can take classes across disciplines and explore the 1,000+ clubs on campus.
Admission Advice:
Be your authentic self. College is not just about name and prestige—it’s also about fit. Are you looking for a large university setting or a small college? Are you trying to do research? What kind of research? Will the school have that opportunity for you? (USC probably will.) Do you want to be near the city, suburbs, or somewhere rural? These are questions you should ask yourself as you go through your application process.

Favorite Quote: “But many of us seek community solely to escape the fear of being alone. Knowing how to be solitary is central to the art of loving. When we can be alone, we can be with others without using them as a means of escape.” – bell hooks
